Family physicians are the only specialists who treat all diseases and provide comprehensive care for patients of all ages and genders, from newborns to geriatrics. They care for patients regardless of age or health problem, and have a patient-focused and family-based approach. This includes social determinants of health; coordinating the health care system for patients, both in-patient and in the outpatient setting; using technology to coordinate services and enhance care; and considering the impact of the individual's health on the whole family.
